At Long Table we’re all about local, handcrafted, small-batch Gins & Botanical Spirits.
Rita and Charles Tremewen
In February, 2013 Co-owners Rita and Charles Tremewen opened Vancouver's first distillery in North False Creek. As Ginsmiths, their vision has always been to produce premium handcrafted gins and botanical spirits rooted in a passion for following traditional distillation practices in small batches.
Each batch brings together 100% Canadian grain-based alcohol and a range of organic and natural ingredients, including locally foraged botanicals. Their West Coast inspired recipes have built the distillery’s reputation for producing International award-winning spirits to a global market.
THE LONG TABLE
Large country kitchens and farm tables make for warm social gatherings around eating, drinking, conversation, and sharing together. Our company embraces all these elements and why we chose the name "Long Table".
Our premium spirits form an important part of that long table experience. As we like to say "A long table is a place where kindred spirits gather". Our eighteen foot live edge Redwood table is the perfect centrepiece for socializing.
MEET ELIZABETH I
Elizabeth I is Long Table’s custom-built, 300-litre copper-pot still is the beating heart of an operation that consistently micro-distills a celebrated collection of premium spirits that reveal bold character and refined taste.
Each handcrafted batch tells a story of unique and often subtle flavour notes that are derived from their skillfully crafted proprietary recipes. Elizabeth I is the first of her kind with origins from a long family lineage of mothers, daughters and family members who bare the same name.
Long Table’s fresh, organic, natural ingredients are hand-picked by a network of expert wild foragers in the local mountains or from select sources around the world. Even the water Long Table uses is sourced from British Columbia’s pristine Coast Mountain Range.
The full line-up of Long Table’s small-batch craft spirits are available at its distillery at 1451 Hornby St. in downtown Vancouver. A limited selection is also available at private liquor retailers and most BC Liquor Distribution Branch retail outlets throughout BC, Duty Free at Vancouver Airport, as well as select locations in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and on-line in the United Kingdom. Check locations and availability at the BCLDB’s online product catalogue.
Long Table spirits are proudly featured in many of Vancouver’s most respected restaurants and lounges and a range of signature Long Table cocktails found on their menus — Ask for our premium spirits by name.
Our distillery is run by a dedicated group of passionate individuals who form the foundation or our operations. Our commitment to distilling the finest premium spirits in small batch is without a doubt the focus of our business and that of our distilling team. We love what we do and we want you to experience the emphasis on quality we put into every spirit we create.
CO-FOUNDER & HEAD DISTILLER
Even before he founded Long Table Distillery, Charles Tremewen had an abiding affinity and passion for great gin, botanical spirits and the fine art of distilling small-batch, handcrafted spirits.
Charles Tremewen is an internationally award-winning Ginsmith and the Head Distiller at Long Table and is considered one of Canada’s most influential distillers.
Being directly involved in BC’s natural environment, as a former BC Park Ranger and Nature Interpreter, has allowed Charles to sharpen his palate and skills when it comes to knowledge and use of native and exotic botanicals. In addition, Charles’ skills to create award winning plant based products during his career, as a Product Manager in the Natural Food Industry, easily transferred to distillation where parallels harmonized into his ability to create distinguished spirits.
Today, Charles leads a growing business that has garnered both international attention and critical acclaim for its unique and proprietary recipes of premium, small-batch Gins, Vodkas and Seasonal botanical spirits made from a 100-per-cent Canadian grain based spirits and an array of locally foraged botanicals. All are produced on-site in Long Table’s custom-designed and handcrafted 300-litre copper-pot still distillery.
“We do nothing at Long Table other than follow our passion,” says Charles, “and we are incredibly passionate about what we do. We love what we make and we appreciate that people enjoy our Craft. At Long Table, we believe in premium quality, consistency and a collaborative spirit.”
